This book was free and I took a chance b/c the premise sounded interesting. I am so glad I did. What a great find! Storyline is interesting - Raya is the daughter of a conman. She is a freshman in college who lives next door to rich party boy Kade, who appears to be a senior at the same school. During a party at Kade's house one night, some drunk frat boys got into a bulldozer parked at a nearby construction site and mowed down her house. Raya, who is in desperate need of money, takes the offer from Kade's father to move in with Kade for a few months. Kade obviously despises the idea and doesn't treat Kaya too nicely in the beginning. Once she moves in, however, attitudes change and the fun (and heat) begins!

What I liked about the story:

1) Slow build-up in the relationship. I love storylines where the H and h can't stand each other in the beginning, only to find common ground, become friends and then eventually more. The pace of their relationship is wonderful and fun to read. there was no instalove, which I don't particularly care for. However, that did not mean the story was not interesting from the beginning. The sexual tension before they got together was awesome! The buildup made the whole book that much more enjoyable.
2) Both the H and he were likable characters. The h especially didn't do anything too whiny, needy or cringe-worthy, IMO, when it came to the H. Enough moments in the book where your heart ached for her situation, and the H's reaction was always appropriately romantic and swoon-worthy.
3) Side characters were interesting. The author is obviously introducing characters in future books.
4) Schmexy sex scenes. Nothing over-the-top and ridiculous, but good amount of heat and intensity.
5) Entire pacing of the book was nice. Like I said, buildup of the relationship was at a nice, steady pace, and even after the conflict between the H and h, the resolution was not rushed so the ending was very satisfactory. Best of all - a HEA! Finally, no cliffhanger!

Very good start to the series, and can't wait for Book 1.5 which will tell the story from Kade's POV, and the next book on family friend Tag. For a free book, this was written very well with very few editing mistakes. Pace of story was good and it was hard for me to put the book down! Looking forward to reading more from this author!

Hooked on the Game The Sterling Shore Series #1 eBook CM Owens Reviews

I finished this book and I can't get this stupid smile off my face, I loved this book it was sweet, funny, hot, and Kade was a GREAT hero. I love that it took a little longer for Kade and Raya to get together and while Kade "hates" Raya we get to see glimpses of how he really feels as well as their bickering this was an all around great book. I got this book for free but I would have gladly paid for it in fact I don't know why everyone who owns a kindle and loves romance doesn't have this on their kindle or reading device right now. This was just what I needed, when I had to put it down for real life I would sneak and read it and as I was turning on my kindle I would get all excites and smile like yes again a fool. But how could I not this book was just that good.

Kade and Raya live next to each other while in college and that where the similarities end. Kade is cocky, rich, good looking, and the guy who has everything handed to him and everything(and then some) he wants. Raya is on scholarship saves every penny and works hard. Going to College was a dream but she quickly found out that college can be as bad as high school. When Kade throws another party and it gets out of hand some boys use a bulldozer from a nearby construction sight to bulldoze her house, now homeless and broke Raya is given the offer by Kade's father to live with Kade while also making Kade live by her rules. Not wanting to but with no other options Raya agrees.

Raya quickly finds out that Kade is everything she thought he was and worse, but there are times Raya see's something else when she looks at Kade and that just ends up confusing her more. When the kids who want something from Kade make Raya's life miserable it is Kade who steps in to help instead of cause problems. Now the times when Kade is a jerk are a lot less than the times Kade is nice and fun. The more time Kade and Raya spend together the more Raya see's that there is more than one side to Kade, and the closer they both become and Raya begins to believe they may be more. But a family trip Raya was invited to shows Raya that Kade and Raya are only friends or so she thought. As Kade and Raya begin to fall in love Raya's past and Kade's past collide and what may finally tear them apart may be Kades mistrust and even though Raya is heartbroken Raya may be the only one who can help Kade.

I wish I could tell you how much I loved this book, it literally had everything I was looking for in a book I loved Kade he was a great hero. he was everything I love in my book men possessive, a little cocky, strong, smart, kind, and loving. Raya was also a great heroine she was both vulnerable and strong as well as sweet and though she knew what people thought of her she herself knew her worth. I loved the twist in this book it just added another layer of why I loved this book. I can't wait till I get to read Kade's side(and I don't always like reading the same book from another POV) but I can not wait to get into Kade's head and see his side and his thoughts. I will also be reading the other books in this series about the side characters in this book. I kept thinking as I was reading I hope he gets a book, oo I hope him too, I hope she does as well. C.M.Owens is a brilliant author I can't wait to read more from her, this book had me not only hooked from the first page but entranced.
Raya and Kade are characters the you just can't help but like. Well actually when you first meet Kade you kind of want to slap him, but then he kind of grows on you. Raya is a girl that is trying to make her life better. Even though she is struggling she's still not going to give up. Then one accident leaves her homeless and almost wanting to throw in the towel. She doesn't want to stay with the a-hole next door, but really there's no way around it. And there is no denying that he doesn't want her there either.
Raya is now placed into a world that she doesn't believe she belongs in. And falling for the last guy she thought she ever would. But, the more she gets to know Kade she can't help but fall for the side that he hides from everyone. And its because of her feelings that her secret needs to stay hidden. Once things come to light, lack of communication brings Raya and Kade to see if they are able to be together. Can they see that what they have together is once in a life time kind of love?
This was a book that had me sitting there wanting to smack Kade aside his head and just be up from with Raya. Then I found myself saying that Raya needs to come clean and be open with Kade. This was the first book by Owens for me, and I am glad that I came across it.
